According to Andrew Walton, the company’s Production Manager, Jack absorbed information quickly and delivered tasks with a high level of proficiency. Andrew emphasized that Jack was not only bright but also a pleasure to work with, making him a valuable addition to the team.
The company sought to give Jack a diverse range of experiences across different departments, providing him with exposure to both manufacturing and engineering. He learned about mechatronic maintenance, computer-aided design, and began writing and running Visual Basic scripts in Excel. Jack also worked on key manufacturing tasks, including programming, setting, and operating CNC Brake Press and Laser machines. Additionally, he was involved in assembly processes and worked with a welding robot to produce fabrications.
A Valuable Project Contribution
Jack’s contributions went beyond simple tasks. One of his key projects involved researching Health and Safety Executive guidelines to develop a yard plan, which he then drew using CAD software. His work extended to the research and development department, where he designed training frames that are now being installed at the company’s training academy. This project is set to upskill the entire company’s workforce, further demonstrating Jack’s significant impact during his placement.
