Cleveland-Cliffs Expands Leadership Team with New Board Appointment
Cleveland-Cliffs, a leading North American steel producer, has announced the appointment of Jane M. Cronin to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Cronin, who has had a distinguished career in finance, is currently Senior Vice President Finance at The Sherwin-Williams Company, a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of paint, coatings, and related products. Her appointment underscores Cleveland-Cliffs’ commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it moves forward into 2025.
A Seasoned Financial Expert Joins Cleveland-Cliffs’ Board
Ms. Cronin brings over 30 years of experience in accounting and financial management to Cleveland-Cliffs. She joined Sherwin-Williams in 1989 and has since held several senior leadership roles, including Senior Vice President Enterprise Finance, Senior Vice President Corporate Controller, and Vice President of Internal Audit and Loss Prevention. Her extensive expertise in finance and accounting, gained at a prominent public manufacturing company in Cleveland, will be a significant asset to Cleveland-Cliffs, especially in her role on the Audit Committee.
In addition to her position at Sherwin-Williams, Cronin serves on the board of Transdigm Group, where she is a member of both the Audit Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. These roles demonstrate her well-rounded background in corporate governance and financial oversight, which will prove invaluable to Cleveland-Cliffs as it continues to expand its presence in the steel industry.
Filling the Vacancy Left by Janet Miller’s Passing
Lourenco Goncalves, Chairman, President, and CEO of Cleveland-Cliffs, expressed his pleasure at welcoming Cronin to the Board, highlighting her deep experience and local Cleveland connections. Cronin will be filling the board seat left vacant following the untimely passing of Janet Miller, a former member of the Cleveland-Cliffs Board. Goncalves emphasized the value that Cronin’s expertise would bring to the company, particularly as it moves into the new year, and expressed confidence in her ability to contribute to the company's growth and success.
A Strong Focus on Governance and Financial Oversight
In her new role, Cronin will serve on the Audit Committee of Cleveland-Cliffs’ Board of Directors, a critical function in overseeing the company’s financial integrity and reporting processes. Her extensive background in corporate accounting, internal audits, and financial strategy will ensure that Cleveland-Cliffs maintains a robust and transparent financial governance framework.
