India’s state-owned mining giant, NMDC Limited, reported its December 2024 performance results, revealing both growth in iron ore production and a decline in sales. According to a company statement issued on January 2, NMDC produced 4.71 million metric tons of iron ore during December, reflecting a 5.1% increase from the same month in the previous year. Despite this production boost, sales of iron ore during the month declined by 6.7%, totaling 3.91 million metric tons.
For the first nine months of the fiscal year 2024-25 (April to December), NMDC's cumulative production reached 30.77 million metric tons of iron ore, which is a slight decrease from 31.78 million metric tons during the same period in the previous fiscal year. In terms of sales, NMDC reported 31.80 million metric tons, down marginally from 31.94 million metric tons in the corresponding period of 2023.
