Interpipe, a leading Ukrainian industrial company, is making significant strides in maintaining its competitive edge in international markets through substantial investments in production. Sergiy Kuzmenko, the Chief Financial Officer of Interpipe, highlighted this commitment at the recent Kyiv International Economic Forum, emphasizing the company's strategic focus on innovation and sustainability.
Over recent years, Interpipe has invested approximately $1 billion in constructing a state-of-the-art electric steelmaking complex, known as Interpipe Steel. This facility already aligns with the European Green Deal's 2030 goals, showcasing the company's dedication to environmental sustainability. Additionally, investments have been made in finishing lines for producing high-quality finished products. These advancements have enabled Interpipe to tap into new market segments, including premium connection pipes and wheels designed for high-speed passenger transportation.
Despite facing significant risks, including those posed by the ongoing military conflict, Interpipe remains steadfast in its investment strategy. As a global player in the steel pipes and railway products market, the company cannot afford to pause its operations during the war. Kuzmenko emphasized that Interpipe continues to modernize its production facilities, develop new products, and reduce carbon emissions to stay competitive against international rivals.
Continued investment also serves as a crucial motivator for Interpipe's workforce. The war has led to an exodus of Ukrainians, particularly from frontline cities like Nikopol. By investing in its future, Interpipe aims to encourage its employees to return to Ukraine, fostering a sense of stability and long-term commitment among its staff.
Interpipe's proactive approach is evident in its expansion of product offerings. Over the past two years, the company has developed more than 200 new types of pipe products tailored for European customers. This diversification has opened doors to new clientele in sectors such as micropiles, fittings and bends, and mobile cranes, further solidifying Interpipe's position in the market.
As an international, vertically integrated company, Interpipe ranks among the top 10 producers of seamless pipes globally and is one of the top three producers of all-rolled railway wheels. This impressive standing underscores the company's ability to adapt and thrive, even in challenging circumstances.
