In a landmark move, the BESA, a prominent contractors' trade body, and CIBSE, the industry's professional institution, have announced a strategic alliance to drive forward a comprehensive agenda for the building services engineering sector. The alliance will see the two organizations provide deeper support for each other's key events, including national conferences, seminars, and awards, while continuing their successful collaboration on a range of technical guidance. The focus will be on several critical areas, including the implementation of the Building Safety Act, developments in indoor air quality (IAQ), the retrofitting and refurbishment of the existing building stock to advance decarbonization, and the burgeoning heat networks sector.
CIBSE Chief Executive Ruth Carter emphasized the importance of moving beyond mere talk of collaboration, stating, "The building services industry is in greater demand than ever as it increasingly accounts for a much larger proportion of the value of construction and facilities management projects.
