Germany has marked a pivotal moment in its green energy transition with the awarding of its inaugural contract for green ammonia imports from Egypt to fertiliser specialist Fertiglobe. The contract, spanning the years 2027 to 2033, stipulates the import of at least 259,000 metric tons of green ammonia annually. This quantity equates to over 10% of Germany's current annual ammonia production, highlighting the scale and ambition of the agreement.

The German economy ministry lauded the deal as a critical step towards transforming Germany into a sustainable industrial hub while fostering climate protection and creating sustainable jobs domestically.
