Rourkela Steel Plant's HSM-2 Reaches Unprecedented Production Heights

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a part of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has achieved a remarkable feat with its Hot Strip Mill-2 (HSM-2). In January 2025, the mill produced a record 247,493 metric tons of coils, setting a new high for monthly production. During the same period, it also rolled 253,680 metric tons of slabs, further solidifying its capabilities.

This new record surpasses the plant’s previous achievements from October 2024, where HSM-2 had produced 239,320 metric tons of slabs and 232,934 metric tons of coils. The consistent improvement in production levels highlights the plant’s growing efficiency and technological advancements, as well as the commitment to meeting the growing demands of the steel industry.

The upgraded production capacity of HSM-2 is a significant milestone in the history of the Rourkela Steel Plant, reinforcing its position as a leader in India’s steel manufacturing sector.
