Schréder, the world leader in smart outdoor lighting solutions, has announced its acquisition of Ligman Lighting USA, a leader in urban lighting solutions in North America. The transaction, which coincided with the retirement of Ligman Lighting USA's President, Neil Gillies, will see Schréder gain exclusive distribution rights for Ligman Lighting products in the region.
Ligman Lighting USA, established in 2010 under the leadership of Neil Gillies, has rapidly expanded its operations thanks to its high-quality urban lighting solutions, exceptional customer service, and customization capabilities. The company supplies a comprehensive range of products, including luminaires, poles, floodlights, and bollards, through a large network of sales agents across the US and Canada.
Schréder, which has been present in the North American market since 1992, has built a strong reputation for lighting essential infrastructure such as tunnels, airports, and sports facilities. The acquisition of Ligman Lighting USA reinforces Schréder's commitment to the North American market and is expected to accelerate the company's growth in the region while further developing its fast-growing infrastructure lighting business.
Both companies share a vision for innovation and a heritage of high-quality lighting solutions that deliver design, efficiency, added value, and attention to detail for their customers. The combination of Ligman Lighting USA's strong position in decorative urban lighting solutions with Schréder's portfolio of infrastructure lighting solutions is expected to create significant added value for customers and partners.
Philippe Felten, Schréder's Chief Commercial Officer, commented on the acquisition, stating that it will enhance the company's strategic and operational capabilities as a major player in attractive growth categories and benefit their sales channel as they continue to transform and optimize their portfolio.
Neil Gillies, President of Ligman Lighting USA, expressed his excitement for the company's employees as they embark on this next phase, noting that Ligman Lighting USA and Schréder are highly complementary businesses.
The acquisition also highlights the shared values and cultures of both companies, which focus on attracting and developing the best people, making a positive contribution to communities, and driving sustainable initiatives. Steve Mills, Schréder's President/Regional Director for North America, congratulated Neil Gillies on his upcoming retirement and the phenomenal success of Ligman Lighting USA under his leadership, noting that the core values and culture of Ligman Lighting USA align well with Schréder's own.
The transaction was supported by Merrimack Group, while Stoel Rives LLP, a Portland-based firm, provided legal support, and KPMG assisted with tax guidance for Schréder.V
