Hwange Colliery Company, a cornerstone of Zimbabwe's coal mining sector, is poised for substantial expansion through a strategic alliance with Dinson Iron and Steel Company, a subsidiary of Tsingshan Holding Group. Disco's ambitious project to develop Africa’s largest integrated steel plant in Chivhu presents a transformative opportunity for HCCL, which is a major supplier of coking coal, an essential ingredient in steel production.

HCCL's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. William Gambiza, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the strategic significance of supplying coking coal to Disco's Manhize Steel Plant. We view the establishment of the Dinson Steel Plant as a long-term strategic partnership, stated Gambiza. Our mining operations are being aligned to meet the dynamic demands of the market, ensuring that we can reliably supply Manhize with the resources it requires.

Currently producing approximately 4 million metric tons of coal annually, HCCL is actively exploring new markets to further bolster its position as a leading coal supplier in the region. Debra Malandu, HCCL's Commercial Manager, underscored the company's readiness to meet growing demand: We have secured off-take agreements with several clients and are enthusiastic about the unfolding developments.
