Pneumatic Components, renowned for its Sheffield origin and expertise in tyre inflation and compressed air products, has expanded its realm with the acquisition of Colson X-Cel, a prominent valve manufacturer based in Rotherham. This strategic merger, finalized this month, marks a pivotal moment for both entities under the stewardship of INDUS Holding, PCL's parent company. INDUS Holding emphasizes a local-for-local manufacturing approach, enhancing Colson's pivotal role in this international strategy.

Colson X-Cel, bolstered by approximately 40 adept employees and an annual revenue of £6 million, has solidified its position as a pivotal supplier of valves to the chemical, offshore, and oil and gas sectors since its inception in the 1990s. Notably, Colson manufactures a diverse array of double block and bleed valves and instrument valves, meticulously crafted, assembled, tested, and assured for quality at its Sheffield facility.

The integration of Colson X-Cel into PCL's framework aims to synergize with HORNGROUP's specialized solutions for refuelling and workshop applications, complementing PCL's distinctive Made in Sheffield product line. Under the continued stewardship of James Hinchliffe and Dean Groombridge, alongside the new additions to the board of directors, James Houston, Dean Battersby, and Lee Wright, Colson X-Cel is set to retain its operational autonomy and local management.

Lee Wright, Managing Director of PCL, expressed enthusiasm about this acquisition, emphasizing Colson X-Cel's alignment with PCL's commitment to UK manufacturing and unwavering standards in product performance, safety, and reliability. This alignment, Wright noted, underscores their shared values and mutual dedication to customer satisfaction.

Looking forward, PCL aims to leverage synergistic advantages across their respective markets and product profiles, facilitating mutual growth and innovation in the long term. This strategic vision underscores PCL's proactive approach towards integrating Colson X-Cel into its portfolio, ensuring sustained excellence and market leadership in the realm of pneumatic and valve technologies.
