In a significant move towards enhancing workforce proficiency in India's stainless steel sector, Jindal Stainless has partnered with Capital Goods & Strategic Skill Council to introduce a groundbreaking initiative tailored for the stainless steel kitchenware industry. Launched during the 14th Indian Houseware Show, the initiative includes the Participant Handbook and Qualification Pack titled ‘Operator-Stainless Steel Kitchenware Manufacturing’, aimed at upskilling and training up to 2 million workers across the country.
The newly unveiled Participant Handbook serves as a comprehensive guide, addressing the skill gap prevalent in the hollowware workforce. It is meticulously designed to elevate productivity levels by imparting essential skills, refining manufacturing techniques, and instilling adherence to stringent quality standards. By promoting uniformity in training methodologies, the Handbook aims to minimize errors, reduce wastage, and ensure consistent product excellence that meets global benchmarks.
Ms. Shalini Singh, CEO of CGSSC, expressed optimism about the initiative's impact, stating, “We are delighted to introduce this pioneering Handbook dedicated to the stainless steel kitchenware industry. Our collaboration aims to bridge the industry-academia gap and equip aspiring and current workforce with specialized skills crucial for sectoral growth. Over the next three years, we aim to significantly enhance the capabilities of 5,000 fresh talents annually and upskill 30,000 operators, supported by industry partnerships and government initiatives.”
Mr. Vijay Sharma, Director of Corporate Affairs at Jindal Stainless, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative, noting, “As pioneers in India's stainless steel sector, we are committed to fostering excellence through education and skill development. Manufacturing stainless steel cookware demands precision and expertise, and our initiative aims to cultivate a sustainable talent pipeline. The Stainless Academy, a cornerstone of our efforts, serves as a hub for education, training, research, and collaboration, reinforcing our commitment to industry leadership and innovation.”
