On December 10, 2024, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG announced the appointment of Frank-Jürgen Weise as a new member of its Supervisory Board. This decision was made during a board meeting, where the Supervisory Board welcomed Weise as a neutral member of the co-determined board. His addition is seen as a strategic move to enhance the board's capabilities during a critical period of transformation for the company.

Ilse Henne, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, expressed her enthusiasm about Weise's appointment. She stated, “I am delighted that we have completed the Supervisory Board with Frank-Jürgen Weise, a renowned consultant and driving force.” Henne emphasized that his expertise will allow the board to focus on the significant tasks ahead, particularly the structural realignment of the company and its green transformation initiatives. Knut Giesler, the Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board and District Manager of IG Metall North Rhine-Westphalia, praised Weise's extensive background in management and social competence. Giesler remarked that Weise’s experience will be invaluable in navigating the challenges that lie ahead. Frank-Jürgen Weise brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He served as the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Federal Employment Agency from 2004 to 2017, where he played a crucial role in reforming the agency. His leadership helped modernize the agency's operations, making it more efficient and responsive to the needs of job seekers and employers alike. Furthermore, Weise's tenure as head of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees from September 2015 to the end of 2016 equipped him with insights into complex organizational dynamics and stakeholder engagement.

In addition to his previous roles, Weise has held several significant positions in various organizations. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German National Foundation and served as the Chairman of the Bundeswehr Structural Commission. His commitment to social causes is evident from his role as Honorary President of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe from 2017 to 2021, where he contributed to humanitarian efforts. Until March 2024, he was also the Chairman of the Hertie Foundation, focusing on education and health projects, further showcasing his dedication to societal improvement.
