INOX Air Products Commissions Largest Air Separation Unit at SAIL's Bokaro Plant

In a landmark development, INOX Air Products, a leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has successfully commissioned its largest-ever Air Separation Unit at the Steel Authority of India Bokaro Plant. This project, which involves an investment of Rs 750 crore, is a testament to the company's advanced technological capabilities and its pivotal role in supporting India’s industrial growth. The newly installed ASU has a production capacity of 2,150 metric tons per day, marking a significant milestone for both INOXAP and SAIL.

Key Features of the Largest ASU at SAIL Bokaro

The Air Separation Unit (ASU) commissioned by INOXAP is a state-of-the-art facility designed to generate a wide range of industrial gases, essential for various operations at the Bokaro steel plant. The ASU’s production capacity includes:

• 2,000 TPD of gaseous Oxygen

• 150 TPD of liquid Oxygen

• 1,200 TPD of gaseous Nitrogen

• 100 TPD of Argon

This significant production capacity will ensure a reliable supply of industrial gases critical for steel production and other manufacturing processes at Bokaro. The addition of this advanced facility marks INOXAP’s largest-ever investment in a greenfield Oxygen plant in India, underscoring the company’s commitment to meeting the increasing demand for industrial gases in the steel sector.

Enhancing Gas Supply Capacity at SAIL’s Bokaro Plant

With the commissioning of the 2,150 TPD ASU, INOXAP has now increased its total gas production capacity at SAIL’s Bokaro Plant to over 6,300 TPD across various gases. INOXAP had previously operated an ASU at Bokaro with a capacity of 1,250 TPD, and the addition of this latest ASU will substantially enhance the supply of crucial gases needed to support SAIL’s steel production.

The new ASU's capacity will allow SAIL’s Bokaro Plant to efficiently meet its growing requirements for industrial gases, such as oxygen, nitrogen, and argon, which are essential in steelmaking processes like oxygen blowing, furnace operation, and metal refining. These gases are also used in various engineering applications, including welding and cutting, reinforcing their significance in a broad array of industries.

Strengthening the Long-Standing Partnership with SAIL

The commissioning of this high-capacity ASU marks a significant milestone in INOXAP’s partnership with SAIL, which has been ongoing since 2008. INOXAP's long-term collaboration with SAIL began with the installation of its first cryogenic ASU at Bokaro Steel Plant. Over the years, the relationship has grown stronger with subsequent expansions, including another ASU at SAIL's Salem plant in 2011.

In a statement, Siddharth Jain, the Managing Director of INOX Air Products, expressed immense pride in the successful completion of the project. He said, "The commissioning of our largest-ever ASU at SAIL's iconic Bokaro Plant is a massive milestone in our Company’s journey. Considering that this is SAIL’s largest ASU at any of its facilities, it brings us immense pride and stands testimony to our capabilities and reliability."

This long-standing collaboration between INOXAP and SAIL is a reflection of their mutual commitment to enhancing India’s industrial capabilities. With a strong emphasis on quality and technological advancement, INOXAP’s partnership with SAIL has played an instrumental role in the steel giant’s production efficiency and has contributed to India’s overall industrial growth.

INOXAP's Commitment to India's Growth Story

Since its entry into the market in 2008, INOXAP has firmly established itself as a leader in the field of industrial gases. Its association with SAIL is a prime example of how the company’s innovative solutions have been instrumental in driving industrial efficiency in the country. The completion of the 2,150 TPD ASU at Bokaro Steel Plant is a significant step forward in INOXAP’s vision to be at the forefront of India’s industrial development, particularly in the steel and manufacturing sectors.

INOXAP’s dedication to innovation is also reflected in its continued investment in greenfield projects, such as this new ASU, which plays a critical role in meeting the growing demands for industrial gases across sectors like metallurgy, chemical manufacturing, and healthcare.

Looking Ahead: Expanding INOXAP’s Reach in India

With the success of the Bokaro ASU project, INOXAP is poised to expand its presence in the Indian market further. The company’s strategy revolves around continuously improving its operational capabilities to meet the ever-increasing demands of the industrial sector. Through innovative technology and strategic partnerships, INOXAP aims to not only bolster its existing relationships but also venture into new markets to support India’s industrialization efforts.

As India continues its journey toward economic growth and industrial self-sufficiency, INOX Air Products will play a key role in providing the essential industrial gases required to support sectors critical to the nation’s development.
