In 2023, ArcelorMittal's Altensteig facility delivered more than 300 metric tons of pipes in various dimensions to the furniture manufacturer Giesselmann. This ongoing partnership, which has thrived for 15 years, underscores the reliability and quality of the materials provided. Typically, a truck leaves the Schwarzwald production site every three weeks, transporting essential raw materials to Giesselmann’s operations in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Giesselmann specializes in crafting a wide range of table frames, including innovative height-adjustable models. The production process at their Bad Oeynhausen facility includes the assembly of lifting mechanisms that allow for the seamless adjustment of table heights. The pipes supplied by ArcelorMittal include rectangular, square, and round shapes, with dimensions such as 40 x 20 x 2 mm, 50 x 50 x 2 mm, and 40 x 2 mm. Some of these pipes are provided in a scraped finish, which removes the internal weld seam for a smoother surface.
To ensure precision in manufacturing height-adjustable table components, Giesselmann places a strong emphasis on quality. Each component must fit together perfectly, requiring high dimensional accuracy and minimal tolerances. Clean and grease-free surfaces are also critical, as they reduce smoke generation during production and minimize cleaning efforts. This attention to detail not only streamlines the powder coating process but also guarantees a consistently clean and appealing finish on the final products.
The unwavering quality of the pipes from ArcelorMittal’s Schwarzwald plant has been instrumental in preventing unnecessary complaints and costly delays for Giesselmann. By maintaining high standards, the furniture manufacturer can focus on innovation and design rather than dealing with production issues. The collaboration has proven beneficial for both parties, enhancing efficiency and product quality.
In addition to the superior quality of materials, Giesselmann benefits from the flexible inventory management offered by the Altensteig facility. This flexibility allows the furniture manufacturer to adapt their production planning based on current orders, ensuring that they can meet customer demands promptly. The short transportation distances, reliable delivery schedules, and quick responses from ArcelorMittal’s team have further solidified the partnership.
Volker Giesselmann, the Managing Director of Giesselmann, has expressed satisfaction with the long-standing collaboration. The combination of high-quality materials, responsive service, and logistical efficiency has made this partnership a model of success in the furniture manufacturing industry. As they continue to work together, both ArcelorMittal and Giesselmann look forward to further innovations and enhancements in their product offerings.
