XTI Aerospace has announced that its subsidiary, XTI Aircraft Company, has taken a significant step forward in the development of its groundbreaking TriFan 600 aircraft. The company has signed a Letter of Intent with AVX Aircraft Company, a leader in advanced vertical lift solutions, to provide crucial development, design, and certification services for the TriFan 600, a fixed-wing aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing capability. The definitive agreements are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
The TriFan 600 is being developed by XTI to revolutionize point-to-point air travel by combining the comfort, speed, and range of conventional business aircraft with the flexibility and convenience of VTOL capability. This innovative aircraft is expected to create an entirely new category, the vertical lift crossover airplane.
Under the proposed terms of the definitive agreement, XTI Aircraft, led by XTI Aerospace Senior Vice President of Business and Program Development Don Purdy, will provide management, direction, and oversight of the TriFan 600 program. AVX will assume the role of prime contractor, offering detailed design, program management, subcontract management, and certification support services.
Scott Pomeroy, chairman and chief executive officer of XTI Aerospace, emphasized the significance of the partnership with AVX, stating, "The relationship with AVX provides XTI Aircraft with seasoned engineering talent and a company highly experienced in designing and developing vertical lift aircraft technology. AVX will help refine our current design, which we expect will accelerate the TriFan 600 development program while significantly reducing expenses for certain engineering capabilities and services."
