Tata Steel: Provisional Production & Delivery Figures for 4QFY2025 and FY2025
Production Volumes for FY2025 and 4QFY2025
Tata Steel’s production figures for FY2025 showcase significant growth in certain regions, particularly India, and recovery in Europe.
• Tata Steel India reported 5.51 million tons of crude steel production in 4QFY25, which marked a decrease from 5.69 million tons in 3QFY25, mainly due to relining work on the ‘G’ blast furnace in Jamshedpur. However, India’s annual production for FY2025 reached 21.75 million tons, representing a 5% increase YoY compared to 20.78 million tons in FY2024. This rise was driven by the commissioning of the largest blast furnace at Kalinganagar and higher production levels at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited.
• Tata Steel Netherlands saw solid growth in its liquid steel production, which reached 1.63 million tons in 4QFY25, slightly lower than the 1.76 million tons produced in 3QFY25 but still a significant improvement from 1.48 million tons in 4QFY24. Over the entire fiscal year, the Netherlands operations produced 6.75 million tons of liquid steel, a notable increase from 4.81 million tons in FY2024. This boost was attributed to the return to normal operating levels after the reline of Blast Furnace #6 in February 2024.
• Tata Steel UK, on the other hand, did not record any production in 4QFY25, as the company had closed its blast furnaces at the end of 2QFY25. The operations are now focused on processing purchased substrates. For the full year FY2025, Tata Steel UK produced just 1.07 million tons, a considerable decrease from the 2.99 million tons produced in FY2024.
• Tata Steel Thailand reported 0.31 million tons of production in 4QFY25, consistent with 4QFY24 but showing a small increase compared to 0.26 million tons in 3QFY25. Over the entire fiscal year, the company’s production in Thailand reached 1.18 million tons, slightly up from 1.12 million tons in FY2024.
Delivery Volumes for FY2025 and 4QFY2025
Tata Steel’s delivery volumes also exhibited strong growth, particularly in its Indian market.
• Tata Steel India recorded its highest-ever quarterly delivery volume in 4QFY25, with 5.60 million tons delivered, a 6% increase QoQ from 5.29 million tons in 3QFY25. This marked a strong recovery driven by growth in domestic steel demand. For the full fiscal year, Tata Steel India’s deliveries totaled 20.94 million tons, surpassing the 19.91 million tons delivered in FY2024, representing a YoY increase of 4.4%.
• Tata Steel Netherlands delivered 1.72 million tons of steel in 4QFY25, a slight increase from 1.53 million tons in 3QFY25 and a marked rise from 1.43 million tons in 4QFY24. Over the course of FY2025, the Netherlands operations delivered 6.22 million tons, up from 5.33 million tons in FY2024, driven by the return to normal operations after the reline of Blast Furnace #6.
• Tata Steel UK delivered 0.64 million tons in 4QFY25, which was slightly higher than the 0.57 million tons delivered in 3QFY25. However, deliveries remained below 0.69 million tons in 4QFY24, reflecting the ongoing market challenges. For the entire fiscal year, Tata Steel UK’s deliveries totaled 2.51 million tons, a decrease from 2.80 million tons in FY2024.
• Tata Steel Thailand reported 0.32 million tons of deliveries in 4QFY25, consistent with 0.32 million tons in 4QFY24 and a small increase from 0.28 million tons in 3QFY25. For FY2025, Thailand’s deliveries totaled 1.19 million tons, an increase from 1.12 million tons in FY2024.
Key Highlights from Tata Steel’s 4QFY2025 and FY2025 Performance
1. India’s Performance: Production & Deliveries
Tata Steel India’s crude steel production for FY2025 increased by 5% YoY, driven by the successful commissioning of India’s largest blast furnace at Kalinganagar and higher output at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited. Despite a slight QoQ drop in 4QFY25, Tata Steel India’s deliveries surged to 5.6 million tons, marking its best-ever quarterly performance. The company’s total deliveries for FY2025 reached 20.94 million tons, a 4.4% YoY increase.
2. Sector-wise Performance in India
o The Automotive & Special Products (A&SP) segment saw deliveries of approximately 3.1 million tons, which was stable YoY. In 4QFY25, A&SP volumes grew by 10% QoQ, and Tata Steel became the first Indian mill to localize high-strength hot-rolled CP780 steel for automotive applications.
o The Branded Products & Retail (BPR) segment achieved significant growth with a 7% YoY increase in deliveries, totaling ~7.0 million tons. The strong performance of established brands, such as Tata Tiscon (which achieved its best-ever annual deliveries of ~2.4 million tons) and Tata Steel’s SME brands, Tata Astrum and Tata Steelium, drove this growth.
o The Industrial Products & Projects (IPP) vertical recorded deliveries of ~7.3 million tons, with a 14% QoQ increase in 4QFY25. This growth was driven by high-value segments like Engineering and Ready-to-use solutions, which posted their best-ever annual volumes.
3. E-Commerce Growth
Tata Steel’s Aashiyana platform, an e-commerce platform for individual homebuilders, showed 60% YoY revenue growth, reaching Rs. 3,550 crores. This growth was attributed to expanded reach and improved customer experience, which bolstered Tata Steel's retail segment.
4. Tata Steel Netherlands
The company’s Netherlands operations showed a strong recovery with 6.75 million tons of liquid steel production in FY2025, a significant increase from the previous year. Deliveries also grew to 6.22 million tons, thanks to the completion of the Blast Furnace #6 reline in February 2024, which restored normal operations.
5. Tata Steel UK
Production in the UK was severely impacted in FY2025, as Tata Steel UK only produced 1.1 million tons of liquid steel. Both of its blast furnaces were closed in 2QFY25, and as a result, the UK unit's deliveries fell to 2.5 million tons for the full year, down from 2.80 million tons in FY2024.
