KIOCL Limited, a prominent Indian government-owned enterprise, has launched an international tender seeking suppliers for 250,000 metric tons of iron ore concentrate-hematite. The material is intended for its pellet manufacturing facility in Mangalore, which boasts an annual production capacity of 3.5 million metric tons, according to company officials speaking on November 19.

The procurement initiative sets forth stringent quality parameters for potential suppliers, reflecting KIOCL's commitment to maintaining high production standards. The specifications mandate a minimum Fe content of 64.50%, while placing strict limits on impurities with maximum allowable levels of 1.50% for alumina and 3.5% for silica content. These exacting requirements underscore the company's focus on securing premium-grade raw materials for its pellet production operations.

The tender process has been structured to ensure efficient logistics and timely delivery, with suppliers required to dispatch materials in shipping vessels carrying minimum volumes of 50,000 metric tons per shipment. This requirement optimizes shipping economics while ensuring steady supply to the plant. The selected supplier must complete the entire delivery within a 60-day timeframe from the date of purchase order issuance.

KIOCL has opened the bidding process to a broad spectrum of international participants, including mine owners, traders, and suppliers, demonstrating its commitment to fostering global trade relationships. Interested parties have until December 12, 2024, to submit their proposals, allowing adequate time for thorough evaluation of capabilities and offerings.
