During a working visit to Kazakhstan's Aktobe region, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had the opportunity to tour a newly established steel pipe manufacturing plant. The facility, which was commissioned in July of this year, produces up to 20,000 metric tons of steel products annually. With an investment of $7 million, the plant is a significant addition to Kazakhstan's industrial infrastructure and reflects the country’s growing ambition to enhance its manufacturing capabilities. The visit underscored the government's focus on fostering local production and reducing reliance on foreign imports, particularly in sectors critical to the country's economic growth.
The founder of the plant, Mirgali Burbaev, shared insights into the operations of the facility, which includes advanced installations for the production of steel pipes and metal structures. The plant is already operational, with equipment in place to meet its annual production targets. Burbaev also discussed the plant's long-term development plans, which aim to expand its product range and increase production capacity. These plans are part of a broader vision to diversify Kazakhstan's industrial base and enhance its competitiveness in both regional and global markets. The expansion of manufacturing capacity in Aktobe is seen as a vital step toward meeting domestic demand and positioning Kazakhstan as a key player in the steel industry.
In addition to the steel pipe plant, President Tokayev visited an exhibition showcasing a wide variety of locally produced goods. The exhibition highlighted the diversity of Kazakhstan's manufacturing sector, with displays of equipment for industrial enterprises, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, workwear, household chemicals, and plumbing products. This exhibition was a clear demonstration of Kazakhstan’s push to develop a more self-sufficient economy by supporting local producers across various industries. By showcasing these products, the government aims to promote the capabilities of local manufacturers, increase export potential, and reduce the need for imports.
The Aktobe region has become an increasingly important hub for industrial activity in Kazakhstan. As part of his visit, President Tokayev also toured secondary school No. 1, the Khromtau Mining and Technical Higher College, and reviewed the socio-economic development of the region. He visited the "Bolashak" mine in Khromtau, one of the country’s key mining operations, where he examined the mine's role in Kazakhstan's broader economic strategy. The region, rich in natural resources, plays a crucial role in the country’s industrialization efforts, and the development of the steel pipe plant aligns with the broader goals of strengthening the local economy.
