Audi Sport has launched its most powerful SUVs to date: the new RS Q8 Performance and the updated RS Q8. These vehicles are not just another addition to the Audi Q8 model range; they represent the pinnacle of performance and luxury in the SUV segment. The RS Q8 Performance boasts an impressive output of 471 kW (640 PS) and 850 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful series-produced combustion model in Audi Sport GmbH's history. Alongside it, the RS Q8 offers 441 kW (600 PS) and maintains exceptional driving dynamics and everyday usability. Both models feature a self-locking center differential and new equipment packages for enhanced customization.
The exterior of both the RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance is unmistakably Audi Sport GmbH. The front apron with striking air intakes, a distinctive honeycomb structure, and high-gloss black blade, matte gray on the RS Q8 Performance, set these models apart. The large singleframe grille features a three-dimensional honeycomb design, while the rear sports two oval tailpipes flanking a central diffuser. These design elements emphasize the sporty nature and high performance of these SUVs.
Under the hood, the RS Q8 is powered by a twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder engine producing 441 kW (600 PS) and 800 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The RS Q8 Performance, with its increased output of 471 kW (640 PS) and 850 Nm of torque, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. This version also features a newly developed, lighter exhaust system for a sportier sound, which can be upgraded to the RS sport exhaust system for an even more intense auditory experience. Both models have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, extendable to 280 km/h or 305 km/h with the dynamic package plus.
Driving dynamics are a key focus for both the RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance. They come standard with permanent quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. The mechanical center differential distributes engine power between the front and rear axles at a 40:60 ratio, ensuring precise cornering and reduced understeer. Adaptive air suspension sport with controlled damping is also standard, allowing the ride height to vary by up to 90 millimeters for an optimal balance of sportiness and comfort.
For enhanced performance, both models offer electromechanical active roll stabilization, eAWS, as an option. This system minimizes lateral body movements, improving stability and agility. The dynamic package plus includes eAWS, a quattro sport differential, and an RS ceramic braking system (standard on the RS Q8 Performance), further enhancing performance capabilities. All-wheel steering is also standard, with the rear wheels turning in opposite directions to the front wheels at lower speeds, reducing the turning radius and improving maneuverability.
Lighting technology has also been upgraded, with Matrix LED headlights as standard and HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light as an option. The RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance feature digital daytime running light signatures and OLED rear lights with a proximity indication feature for enhanced road safety. The top model's darkened bezel visually distinguishes it from the base model, while the Audi laser light provides a significantly greater range.
The interior of the RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance is equally impressive. New paint finishes, including Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue, and Chili Red, add to the exterior customization options. The RS Q8 Performance features matte gray exterior mirrors, front spoiler elements, and a rear diffuser, contrasting with the high-gloss black elements of the RS Q8. Optional 23-inch light-alloy wheels with a 6-Y spoke design and various color finishes further personalize the look.
Inside, red, gray, or blue RS design packages add contrasting stitching and unique features. The blue package, exclusive to the RS Q8 Performance, includes Ocean Blue seat belts and Alcantara-covered steering wheel. Perforated sports seats with honeycomb stitching, decorative inlays, and additional features like Dinamica microfiber armrests enhance the luxurious feel. The RS Q8 Performance also boasts 23-inch light-alloy wheels, high-performance Pirelli P Zero tires, and an exclusive shift light indicator in the Audi virtual cockpit.
Audi's RS Q8 Performance holds the record for the fastest SUV on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, thanks to its powerful V8 engine and advanced chassis components. This SUV not only excels on the track but also offers everyday usability, embodying Audi Sport GmbH's commitment to absolute performance and driving pleasure.
