Diana Shipping, a prominent global shipping company specializing in dry bulk vessels, has inked a crucial time charter agreement with Cobelfret Luxembourg, for the M/V Myrsini, a Kamsarmax dry bulk vessel. The contract, structured at a gross rate of $17,100 per day, marks a strategic move for Diana Shipping to optimize its vessel utilization and revenue streams. The charter is slated to commence on June 25, 2024, and extend until March 25, 2025, offering a lucrative opportunity for the company.
The M/V Myrsini, an 82,117 deadweight tonnage Kamsarmax vessel constructed in 2010, is expected to play a pivotal role in Diana Shipping's operational and financial performance during the charter period. With the gross charter rate set at $17,100 per day, the employment of the Myrsini is projected to yield approximately $3.71 million in gross revenue for the minimum scheduled duration of the time charter.
Following the anticipated sale of the m/v Houston, Diana Shipping Inc.'s fleet will comprise a diverse range of dry bulk vessels, including 4 Newcastlemax, 8 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 6 Kamsarmax, 6 Panamax, and 9 Ultramax vessels. Additionally, the company is set to enhance its fleet with the delivery of two methanol dual fuel new-building Kamsarmax vessels by the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028, respectively. The total carrying capacity of Diana Shipping's fleet, excluding the two upcoming vessels, stands at approximately 4.4 million metric tons with a weighted average age of 10.86 years.
