Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, a Yokohama-based company within the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has secured an order for 2 additional units of its cutting-edge Fuel Gas Supply System from Imabari Shipbuilding. The FGSS, a liquefied natural gas uel gas supply system designed for high-pressure dual-fuel marine engines, will be installed on 2 LNG-fueled bulk carriers to be constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding. The delivery of the FGSS units, along with LNG fuel tanks, is scheduled to commence from summer 2025.

The FGSS units ordered by Imabari Shipbuilding boast a range of innovative features that set them apart in the industry. Utilizing a modular design, the systems optimize cargo space layout, ensuring exceptional space-saving capabilities and easy maintenance access. This design approach not only streamlines the construction schedule at shipyards but also contributes to the vessels' overall efficiency. This latest order follows Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's previous success in supplying FGSS units to Imabari Shipbuilding Group. The company has already delivered a total of 18 high-pressure FGSS units, including those installed on the LNG-fueled car carriers "SWEET PEA LEADER" and "DAISY LEADER," both built by Imabari Shipbuilding Group. These vessels have successfully entered into service in October 2023 and March 2024, respectively. With the additional 2 units, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding will have supplied a total of 20 FGSS units to Imabari Shipbuilding Group, comprising 15 car carriers and 5 bulk carriers.
