In response to escalating violence and ongoing unrest, the US has blacklisted individuals Isachar Manne, Reut Ben Haim, and Aviad Shlomo Sarid, along with four illegal settlement outposts: Manne Farm, Meitarim Farm, Hamahoch Farm, and Neriya’s Farm. Additionally, Lehava, identified as Israel’s largest violent extremist organization with over 10,000 members, has also been sanctioned.
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the US’s concern over extremist activities undermining both regional stability and Israel’s security. The sanctions entail freezing assets under US jurisdiction and prohibiting American dealings with the designated parties.
Lehava swiftly denounced the US measures and affirmed its determination to continue its actions unabated, particularly in safeguarding what it perceives as Israeli interests.
The West Bank has witnessed heightened violence, exacerbated by recent conflicts, resulting in casualties among Palestinians and increased detentions. The area hosts over 500,000 Israeli settlers in more than 100 settlements, amid ongoing international disputes over the legality and impact of such settlements on prospects for peace.
The US sanctions underscore escalating international scrutiny and condemnation of settler violence and the expansion of illegal settlements, perceived as major obstacles to achieving a viable two-state solution in the region.
