At ArcelorMittal Germany, the safety of employees is of utmost importance. The company is committed to continuously improving its safety protocols, particularly across its expansive industrial sites. In line with this commitment, ArcelorMittal Germany is exploring advanced technological solutions, including the use of drones, to enhance site security and ensure a safer working environment for its staff.

Recently, the company announced the testing of drones for perimeter security at its facilities. Michael Hehemann, the Director of Operations, emphasized that safety remains the highest priority for ArcelorMittal Germany. The integration of drone technology aims to complement traditional security methods, providing a more robust approach to monitoring the vast and complex industrial terrain.

The drones are equipped with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, allowing them to fly over designated security areas. They can automatically detect the presence of individuals within these zones, triggering alerts for the security team. This real-time monitoring system enhances response times and situational awareness, crucial in maintaining a secure environment for employees.

One of the notable features of this drone technology is its use of thermal imaging. This allows for effective monitoring even in low-visibility conditions, such as during the night or in foggy weather. By operating at a minimum altitude of 40 meters and relying on heat detection, the drones can identify potential safety hazards while respecting the privacy rights of individuals on the ground.

Additionally, the drones have the capability to detect fires, significantly enhancing safety protocols. They can quickly cover large areas that may be difficult for ground personnel to monitor, providing a bird's-eye view that improves overall oversight and safety management.

As ArcelorMittal Germany moves forward with this innovative approach, the company is eager to evaluate the effectiveness of the drones in enhancing site security. The leadership team is focused on gathering insights during the testing phase to assess how these technologies can be fully integrated into existing safety measures.
