Masaba, renowned for its custom-designed bulk material handling systems and processing equipment, has broken ground on a cutting-edge steel fabrication facility in Vermillion, South Dakota. This new development is strategically located adjacent to the company's existing 211,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and will add 125,000 square feet of fabrication space and over 20,000 square feet of office space.
Jerad Higman, Masaba's founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, emphasizing the company’s commitment to its team, the industries it serves, and the local economy. He stated that Masaba aims to lead in steel processing and continually raise quality standards. The new facility will enable Masaba to centralize all processing equipment in one building, utilizing automation to efficiently handle plate and structural steel.
The investment in the new facility, valued at over $15 million, will streamline Masaba's operations, expand manufacturing capacity, and enhance vertical integration. The current steel fabrication area will be repurposed into additional weld and assembly bays to meet the growing customer demand.
