In a commendable affirmation of its scholarly endeavors, Cagayan State University has secured the renewal of its status as a Registered Publisher by the National Book Development Boar). This prestigious recognition, endorsed by NBDB Director Charisse Aquino-Tugade, underscores CSU's pivotal role in the academic and cultural fabric of the Philippines, particularly through its publication of a diverse array of materials.

The renewal, valid until April 30, 2025, aligns with Republic Act 8047, known as the Book Publishing Industry Development Act. This act facilitates the growth of the book publishing industry, reinforcing CSU's dedication to the dissemination of knowledge via its core mandates: Instruction, Research, Extension, and Production. The NBDB's certification is a testament to CSU's unwavering commitment to fostering intellectual and cultural development through robust publishing activities.

CSU President Arthur Ibañez elucidated that this recognition authorizes the university to publish a vast range of scholarly and professional materials. These include books, textbooks, scientific journals, cultural publications, and specialized magazines. Moreover, CSU can now seamlessly apply for International Book Standard Numbers and International Serial Standard Numbers through the National Library of the Philippines. These identifiers are indispensable for the global dissemination and preservation of scholarly information.

Marie Cauilan, CSU’s information officer and executive assistant to the president, highlighted the university's active engagement in publishing academic journals, supplementary learning resources, and other educational materials. The publications showcase the intellectual contributions of students and faculty, derived from conference outputs and extensive research projects. In 2023 alone, CSU reported a significant number of print and online publications, emphasizing its role in advancing educational resources.

The university's proactive approach in orienting its faculty and students about the publication process is noteworthy. Several workshops and orientation sessions have been conducted to equip the CSU community with the necessary skills for publishing registered books and other educational materials. This initiative not only enhances the quality of publications but also empowers the academic community by providing a platform for their scholarly works.

The NBDB’s acknowledgment of CSU’s publishing capabilities is not just a ceremonial accolade but a crucial enabler for the university's mission to contribute to nation-building through education. The ability to publish a wide array of materials ensures that CSU remains at the forefront of academic and cultural discourse, both locally and internationally.
