On August 14, 2024, the A2A Group, a prominent player in Italy's energy sector, announced a significant partnership with Enfinity Global Inc., a leading company in renewable energy solutions. The two firms have signed new 10-year Power Purchase Agreements (for a total of 134 MW of solar energy. This electricity generation is projected to meet the annual consumption of approximately 86,000 Italian households, significantly contributing to Italy's sustainability goals by avoiding over 104,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year.

Lorenzo Spadoni, Head of Generation and Trading at A2A, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, emphasizing the company's commitment to sustainable development in the regions they operate. He stated, “Thanks to this new partnership with Enfinity Global, we continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the territories by expanding the green energy supply available to our customers.” This initiative aligns with A2A’s strategy to promote decarbonization across Italy, reinforcing its role in the country’s energy transition.

Carlos Domenech, CEO of Enfinity Global, also highlighted the importance of this agreement, describing it as a milestone for the market. He noted, “This agreement is a meaningful milestone for the market and marks a path to provide stable, clean, and affordable energy to Italy while contributing to its 2030 energy transition plan.” Domenech’s remarks underscore the urgency of meeting Italy’s emerging energy needs while transitioning to cleaner sources.

The latest agreements build on a previous partnership initiated in October 2023, when A2A signed PPAs for energy produced from three of Enfinity’s solar power plants in the Lazio region, totaling 97 MW. This growing relationship between A2A and Enfinity Global demonstrates their shared commitment to accelerating Italy’s energy transition and increasing the share of renewable energy in the national grid.

The six solar power plants involved in the new agreements are strategically located in the Lazio and Emilia Romagna regions, known for their favorable solar conditions. This geographical advantage will enable the efficient production of solar energy, further enhancing the reliability of the electricity supply for A2A’s customers.

Both companies are committed to fostering innovation and sustainability in the energy sector. A2A’s focus on expanding its renewable energy portfolio aligns with Italy's broader goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix. Meanwhile, Enfinity Global continues to lead in providing renewable energy solutions that support these objectives.

As Italy moves towards its 2030 energy targets, partnerships like that of A2A and Enfinity Global are vital. They not only facilitate the growth of renewable energy but also contribute to the country’s efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices across various sectors.
